Unlike other gambling games like Mahjong and Gin Rummy, poker simply doesn't work unless everyone is playing for an amount of many that would at least hurt a little bit to lose. You don't have to be from the bible belt to be put off by this. Another problem is that many casual gamers play variants (like baseball) that completely erase any skill from the game (and this would put off the gamers that would vote on Fuegi's excellent list). I could be wrong, but I doubt the bluffing aspect would cause people to dislike the game so much. The problem is that bluffing doesn't work (and thus becomes silly or frustrating) if you aren't playing for real money or you are playing games where wild cards are flying all over the place. It's my #1 favorite game of all time until the end of the earth, by the way, and but I've learned to face facts that many people hate it...
