14.8.2006 - iGaming & iGambling Moves Out of the US and Heads for North America to Flourish

As debate regarding the consequences of the Betonsports legal situation heightens, the attention on gambling & gaming has shifted to the North American market as an important revenue source for those gaming and gambling companies looking to continue aggressive growth strategies and increase market share.   Montreal, Canada (PRWEB) August 14, 2006 -- In particular the mobile gambling, gaming & lotteries market has put its cards on the table and is becoming a key product in gaming and gambling companies' portfolio. Although Europe leads the way with mobile applications, North America is catching up fast and could steal the pot. Is North America the next big thing?  Owen Williams from Mobile Gaming Systems is positive that North America has it all to play for but notes the challenges ahead; "There are signs that the North American Mobile Gambling market will evolve on a similar growth curve as the European and Asian markets" he says "The challenges this market faces are antiquated laws which do not address mobile gambling and the fragmentation of the North American wireless market. It wont be easy to open up North America's potential though "We're still behind Europe" comments Marc Askenasi from WagerPhone Inc. and continues "this is because the hardware and general culture acceptance of gaming still is not quite up to speed, and until that happens the medium won't catch on. But the market potential is phenomenal as are the potential revenue streams."  Zak Muscovitch from Muskovitch & Associates Barristers & Solicitors highlights technological realities and market forces as being key to the success of Mobile Gambling in the North America region; "In North America, there is no question that the mobile gambling market has the opportunity to eclipse and perhaps even overtake traditional gaming... in my opinion, mobile gaming will shortly be ubiquitous and will ultimately be championed by its current detractors."  So what about the current legal situation in the US? Will regulation mean an end to the Mobile Gaming industry as we know it? Patrick Brown of Barn66 takes a different view; "Legal online wagering in the United States is a Billion Dollar market, and ready to explode as it transcends to mobile gaming. The current legal restrictions may be traps for the unwary, but they are also the roadmap to market share and financial success for those with foresight and vision into the marketplace. Those companies positioning themselves in the market with legal offerings in the US, will be able to reap the rewards as mobile gaming continues to expand."  In support of the mobile gambling, gaming industry Martin Owens from Trade-Attorney recognizes the opportunities that exist in North America, and he comments "Nowhere is the technology outrunning regulation faster than in the mobile gambling market. New gaming opportunities - profitable and safe - are developing at a breakneck pace."  With regards to the effect that the Betonsports case has had on the industry Michael Lipton of Elkind & Lipton LLP believes that the panic will not slow down the industry; "If the past is any indicator, and it usually is, interest will continue to grow substantially as it has to date notwithstanding the past actions & prosecutions by the US authorities. Accordingly, while the BoS prosecution is serious, its effect is unlikely to dampen consumer interest." Rounding up on this Lipton continues "Mobile gaming is really the infant child of online gaming and since there is every reason to believe that its growth will be quick and exponential, it is essential that any participant in this industry be aware of the cutting edge issues confronting mobile gaming.
